Media and Democracy

Colorado Common Cause is working to ensure that the media meet their obligations to serve the public by promoting diversity, accessibility, and accountability among media corporations and the government agencies that regulate the media.

Bill of Media Rights

The Bill of Media Rights was crafted by the Media and Democracy Coalition and others. It identifies a clear vision for a competitive, diverse and independent media.

Media Diversity

CCC believes that all Americans should be concerned about the lack of diversity in our media. For more than 20 years, the FCC was supposed to promote minority ownership and employment in broadcasting, but has failed to make that promise a reality.

Media Consolidation

Media ownership is a crucial issue for democracy. As the media industry consolidates into fewer hands, our newspapers and TV channels become less reflective of our own local communities as well as of the broader nation.

Net Neutrality

CCC firmly believes in Net Neutrality -- the principle that Internet users should be able to access any web content they want, post their own content, and use any applications they choose, without restrictions or limitations imposed by their Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

Universal Broadband Access

Internet access has become necessary for participation in our new information society. So many areas in Colorado do not have access or have only one choice for broadband access. Colorado Common Cause has a vision for competitive universal broadband access in Colorado.

Symposium on Media and Democracy

In the midst of a busy Democratic National Convention, environmental, youth, civil rights and media activists came together to talk about the problem of the media and recipes for change.
