Elena Nunez is the Executive Director of Colorado Common Cause. In 2002, she was the campaign manager for Amendment 27, Common Cause’s successful statewide campaign finance reform initiative. Elena joined Common Cause in 2006 and managed the effort to pass the voter approved ethics law, which limits the influence of lobbyist money in state politics. In 2011 Elena served on the leadership team for the Boulder referendum calling for a constitutional amendment to reverse Citizens United.
Prior to joining Colorado Common Cause, Elena was the transportation advocate for Environment Colorado, where she worked to build support for FasTracks, the successful ballot measure to expand light rail in the Denver metro area. After that campaign, Elena was the administrative director for CoPIRG and Environment Colorado, working on financial and communications projects. Originally from Arizona, Elena graduated from Columbia University in 2000 with a degree in Political Science and Gender Studies.
