Common Cause Volunteer and Internship Program
Volunteering at the National Office
Common Cause welcomes volunteers to join our "Washington Connection" program. The Washington Connection volunteers work with Common Cause activists across the country to build grassroots pressure on elected officials on critical issues. We also welcome volunteers who would like to help with administrative tasks in our human resources, accounting or membership services departments.
The volunteer program runs every day during office hours. Currently, most volunteers work a shift between 10am and 4pm on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. At certain times of the year, we also run phonebanks after 5pm. We welcome whatever time you can give to support our grassroots efforts.
Our national office is located at 1133 19th Street NW, 9th Floor, in downtown Washington DC. We are a short walk from the Dupont Circle, Farragut West and Farragut North metro stops.

Interning at the National Office
Through training and daily work experience, interns gain a deep understanding of the workings of Congress, the Executive Branch and grassroots lobbying. Weekly briefings with key Common Cause staff keep interns up-to-date on our highest priority campaigns and the strategies we are pursuing.
The Common Cause intership program was named one of the best in the country by the Princeton Review.
If you are interested in applying for an internship, please send a cover letter and resume to internship[at]commoncause.org. Click here for our internship FAQ.
Students who are interested in organizing on their campuses for campaign finance and election reform are encouraged to apply for paid internships with Democracy Matters, the youth arm of Common Cause.
Volunteering or Interning at a State Office
Many of our state offices also welcome volunteers and interns. Please contact your state office directly to find out about current opportunities.
