This lobbying effort is to press for passage of the "Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act" (H.R. 550), introduced by Rep. Rush Holt (D-NJ). This bill requires that all voting systems produce a voter-verified paper record of each vote cast, and also requires the disclosure of vote-counting software code, bans the use of wireless devices and mandates a percentage of random audits in each State.

What: Training for Lobby Visits
Where:
Human Rights Campaign Building

This meeting is mandatory for everyone who plans to participate in the lobby days!! This training will include a briefing on HR 550 and similar Senate legislation, training on how to have a successful and effective meeting with Congressional staff, media training, and more. Everyone will receive a master schedule of who they have been assigned to meet with and when meetings with Congressional staff will occur and other materials.
12:00pm - 5:00pm
What: Lobby visits. We will fan out to meetings scheduled with over 50 Congressional offices to lobby for HR 550.
Where: Congressional Offices on Capitol Hill. All meetings have been pre-arranged. Schedules will be handed out at the training session.
4:00pm - 6:00pm
Debrief on lobby visits with fellow activists. It is very important that one person from each meeting fill out the meeting evaluation form. You don't have to show up exactly at 4:00pm, but our staff will be there to answer questions, discuss your day with you and collect the forms you fill out.
Where: 1537 and 1539 Longworth House Office Building.
6:00pm - 7:30pm
What: Reception with Members of Congress
Where: Russell Senate Office Building Room 325
NOTE: During the day, there are two rooms available in the Longworth House Office Building for folks to meet up: 1537 and 1539 Longworth House Office Building.

What: Lobby visits. We will fan out to meetings scheduled with over 50 Congressional offices to lobby for HR 550.

10:00am - 10:45 am
What: Press Conference with Representative Rush Holt (D-NJ) and others.
Where: HC-7 (This is in the capitol building. Due to security measures, if you wish to attend, you must notify us in advance at lobbyday@commoncause.org.)
11:00am - 4:00pm
What: On site blogging and media calls to hometown newspapers.
Where: HC-7 (This is in the capitol building. Due to security measures, if you wish to attend, you must notify us in advance at lobbyday@commoncause.org.)
4:00pm - 6:00pm
