Common Cause and allies released a report today highlighting contributions by electric utility companies and their political action committees (PACs) to political campaigns in the context 1999's vote to deregulate the electric industry.

Common Cause Maryland today released a study of $166,525 in campaign contributions from organized gambling to candidates and political committees in the state from 1/13/04 to 1/12/05. 



Six Million Dollar Loophole Study

By setting up multiple LLC's from which to donate money, some individuals and groups have given thousands beyond what is  legal for one election cycle.

While corporate contributions to political campaigns are banned at the Federal level and in 22 states, corporations are allowed to give up to $10,000 to campaigns in Maryland in any 4-year election cycle.
