On Thursday, July 28, Common Cause participated in a Rebuild the Dream rally organized to send a message to Congress that Americans want a fair solution to the budget debate that does not put the greatest strain on our nation's poor and middle class. To protest the immoral budget cuts and disregard for the neediest in society, Common Cause President Bob Edgar and 10 other faith leaders organized an act of civil disobedience that began in a prayer circle in the Capitol Rotunda and ended with all 11 being arrested for obstructing access.

Colorado ranks number 4 in technology based economic development. Communities are doing a lot to expand internet access into rural parts of the state to allow for even more of that. These changes will create new opportunities for people living in economically depressed areas, and add rural living to the list of options for entrepreneurs stuck in the city in a gorgeous state like Colorado. But if we lose internet freedom, these opportunities will be available only to the very wealthy or very connected.
