Robert James Ritchie (a.k.a. “Kid Rock”) is acting as a Senate candidate without following contribution limits or disclosing donors. And even if his candidacy might be a joke, he’s breaking important rules that protect us from unaccountable big money in our politics.

Common Cause just filed a federal complaint against him and his record label -- you can add your name in support on the right-hand side -- then use the buttons below to share it.

>>READ THE COMPLAINT<<

Kid Rock already has a campaign website and is using a link to a Warner Bros. Records website to sell campaign T-shirts, yard signs, hats and bumper stickers, bearing the “KID ROCK FOR US SENATE” logo.

Even if Kid Rock’s campaign is just a publicity stunt, breaking the law to raise big campaign cash isn’t a joke. It’s how 2016 primary candidates like Jeb Bush and Scott Walker illegally raised millions for their Super PACs before “officially” entering the race.

We filed a complaint earlier this year against President Donald Trump for abusing loopholes in the law to evade contribution limits and get an illegal head start on fundraising for 2020. Our elections aren’t a joke -- every candidate is accountable to the rules that keep secretly-raised big money out of our politics.

Common Cause is asking the FEC and DOJ to investigate Kid Rock’s campaign and to “impose appropriate sanctions for any and all violations” along with “additional remedies as are necessary and appropriate to ensure compliance” with the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA).

Add your name in support of our complaint -- Kid Rock and every other candidate must play by the rules that keep unaccountable big money out of our politics.
