The Hon. Nancy Pelosi

House Minority Leader

235 Cannon House Office Bldg.

Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Speaker Boehner and Minority Leader Pelosi:

Our organizations are writing to express our deep appreciation for the diligence and cooperation between your two offices in reauthorizing the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) at the beginning of the 113th Congress and appointing the agency's board members in a timely fashion.

The organizations include: [Campaign Legal Center, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), Common Cause, Democracy 21, Judicial Watch, League of Women Voters, National Legal and Policy Center, Public Citizen, Sunlight Foundation and U.S. PIRG.]

We are particularly impressed with the simple and straightforward approach your offices jointly pursued in preserving the ongoing services of the highly qualified members of the existing board as well as the appointment of former Congressman Mike Barnes as a new member. OCE has served as a responsible and reasonable partner in the congressional ethics process, thanks largely to the professionalism of its board.

Thank you again for working together to ensure that the congressional ethics process continues uninterrupted into the 113th Congress.

Sincerely,

Campaign Legal Center

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW)

Common Cause

Democracy 21

Judicial Watch

League of Women Voters
