Pay-to-play ban upheld in Connecticut
December 19, 2008: Common Cause is celebrating a victory in Connecticut, where a federal court today upheld that state’s ban on political contributions from lobbyists and contractor following a constitutional challenge to the law Common Cause helped pass in 2005. The court held that the law banning “pay to play” contributions was constitutional, a decision that could have wide impact on states considering similar policies in light of the arrest of Illinois Gov.
