North Carolina Redistricting Event Spotlights Bipartisan Support for Reform

The North Carolina Coalition for Lobbying and Government Reform, a coalition led by Common Cause North Carolina, participated in an event last week organized by the League of Women Voters of the Piedmon Triad featuring a Republican and a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. Both lawmakers support legislation to end gerrymandering in the state. Common Cause North Carolina’s Jane Pinsky led the discussion with State Representatives Jon Hardister and Pricey Harrison. According to Pinsky, 79 state legislative races have already been decided because seats were so effectively gerrymandered that candidates will run unopposed in the November 4 general election.
