As the deadline to finalizing New York State's budget ticks down to midnight tonight, Common Cause New York is wrapping up weeks of phone banking, rallies and organizing to pressure state lawmakers and Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) to include funding for a statewide public financing system.

Cuomo reportedly cut the full program over the weekend, yet included a pilot program for the state comptroller race. Activists are converging on Albany this afternoon to make a final push for Fair Elections that would put elections back in the hands of voters, not donors.
