The General Assembly is
continuing on it's 3-day work week.
This week we concentrated=
on
meetings with sponsors and key players for our Top Ten List:
HB 63: Tax Allocation Districts=
(TAD)
enabling legislation, sponsored by Rules Chairman Earl Ehrhart.
A substitute is being prepared by Legislative Counsel and Chairman Ehrhart has committed to work with us on this legisla=
tion
before a sub-committee hearing of Governmental Affairs.
HB130-136: Local non-partisan elect=
ions,
sponsored by Rep. Buddy Carter. Bill Bozath and
Jim Kulstad met with Rep. Carter as well as Governmental Affairs Chairman
Austin Scott regarding these bills. Chairman Scott indicated that he would =
soon
schedule sub-committee hearings for these bills.
HR 229: Citizens Redistricting
Commission, sponsored by Rep. Harry Geisinger.&=

Geisinger arranged for his legislative aide Lau=

Hale to work with Jayne Watson for a March press conference.

eform: Wendell Williard has agreed to move forward and have Legislat=
ive
Counsel draft a bill.
SB 96: Local Ethics Panels, spo=

by Sen. Kasim Reed. This bill was expecte=
d to
be heard and passed in the Ethics Committee Thursday but the committee was =
cancelled.
This is not so unusual and Senator Reed seems confident that the bill =
will
be passed this upcomming week.
SB 84=
which requires new ethics rules for school board members
passed out of the Senate Education and Youth Committee on the 19th.<=
