As part of the NYCommons project, Lucy Block will conduct research and facilitate neighborhood pilot workshops that aim to spotlight the means as well as challenges facing community groups working on issues around publicly owned assets and effective land use processes. Lucy has a breadth of experience in participatory planning and community development. Prior to joining Common Cause, Lucy worked on participatory budgeting, the East Harlem Neighborhood Plan, and developing an immigrant-run worker cooperative. She also facilitated the planning and establishment of the Huerta del Valle community-run urban farm in Ontario, California. Lucy is pursuing a Master of Urban Planning degree from Hunter College, with a focus on community-based planning and land use. She received her B.A. in Environmental Analysis from Pomona College.
