Operations Manager, California Common Cause

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Executive Director based in Los Angeles, the Operations Manager will be responsible for carrying out key operational functions for Common Cause California and ensuring internal operations are effective and efficient.  This position will also support California state staff, the State Board and manage various assigned projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage internal operations: Facilitate communications between staff, State Board, and members.  Oversee logistics and coordinate communications for regular staff meetings, board meetings, and retreats.  Help coordinate office hours, staff schedules, staff travel, and other related policies.  Manage administrative office functions including office supply orders, phone service, vendors, and landlord communications. Carry out key statewide financial functions: Work with the Executive Director and relevant staff to handle reimbursements, event and conference budgets, check deposits, revenue processing, and accompanying documentation.  Support Executive Director in providing grant report documentation and managing reporting deadlines.  Track state income and expenditures. Additional responsibilities: Support state staff and state board.  Coordinate member and fundraising communications. Coordinate special projects.

QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience managing administrative operations, events management experience; excellent oral and written communications skills; demonstrated ability to work under pressure with competing priorities; ability to work in a deadline driven environment; ability to work independently and as a member of the team; ability to interact with Board Members; familiarity with Common Cause issues; strong interpersonal skills; commitment to the public interest; willingness to travel; desktop publishing; volunteer management; database and financial management experience desirable; working knowledge of social media-i.e., Facebook and Twitter; strong attention to detail; communication experience is a plus.
