REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Interns will support policy issues on the local, state and national level. Current issues include campaign finance reform, election reform, youth voter outreach, and redistricting. Specific functions will depend on whether candidate is interested in communications, grassroots organizing, and/or policy research. Internships will be located in either the Los Angeles or the Sacramento office and candidates should be available to work 10-20 hours/week.
Program Operations Intern: Support the day-to-day functions of the organization and assist development and organization of California Common Cause events and programs for the summer of 2017. This internship is an exciting opportunity to gain project management skills and insight into Common Cause’s operations, including but not limited to our programming, events, communications, and marketing.
Organizing Intern: Provide general support on priority campaigns including campaign finance, voting and elections, and redistricting. Assist staff in the development of fact sheets, coalition outreach, and event and meeting execution.
Research Intern: Research and write briefs and reports on a variety of topics including redistricting and voting and elections. Support staff in small-scale inquiries, compile information for larger reports and introduce new ideas for research projects as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be currently enrolled or recently graduated from a degree program. Familiarity with Common Cause issues preferred. Knowledge of California governance and politics preferred. Other skills include basic proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint with prior office experience and detail-oriented.
